The specialists of Royal Room showroom visited exhibition Isaloni Worldwide 2017 in Milan
It’s not a secret that the current exhibition in Milan has always been a forward in furniture and design World. This is a place, where new designers and architects are faced, making the biggest deals in this industry.
This year the headliner of the forum is a modern elegancy with the balance between minimalism and functionality.
The most actual materials are still ceramics, wood, granite, natural leather, fabric. Velour was on the leading position practically on every stand with the fabrics. Velour is the material, which was used by the factories working in a classical style. This year we noticed that a lot of companies working in a modern style began to use this material for the soft furniture upholstery.
The stone and marble are still the hits. However, the new competitors come to change a light grey marble with the streaks. Saturated shades of colored marble filled the stands.
The metals are also still popular: copper and brass, oxidized bronze, corroded iron. These tendencies were clearly traced on the stands of the following brands: Daytona (by Signorini Coco), Vissionaire, Prestige, Rugiano, Longhi, Pottoco, Cattelan Italia, etc.
This year a lot of companies demonstrate muted tones.
The main feature is in the natural shades. The designers actively use pink and its shades, dark blue, terracotta, grey and mustard. One more trend is gold for the decorative surface and its combination with pink.
These colors and their gradients is the base of the following year palette.
ISaloni 2017 style is the noble calm neoclassicism. A traditional classics took a direction to contemporary. The collections of the factories of Gimo concern is b good example. This year the minimalism with bright colored blotches and a variety of shades was dominated.
Vintage is going to the background. Some stands of vintage-style factories, lost their antiquity and maturity and became more neoclassic.
English classic is also in a trend and art-deco is gaining its popularity again.
Natural motives are also on the wave of popularity. The jungle theme in the interior is trendy. But it is getting more complicated and transform: the prints are made in a black and white gamma and sepia, the metal leaves and their interpretations are made in panels and lamps. For example, Masca factory totally changed her habitual stylistic direction, reconstructed the tree branches, emeralds and even fragments of dolomites in forms of lamps.
Tropical and animal prints in a combination with exotic wood species, such as eucalyptus, and also with metal and marble, give an exotic gloss to the interiors.
Following the eco traditions of the last year’s Isaloni 2016, the participants impress visitor’s imagination with the «live» exhibits this time again.
The next year would be the year of geometry in design. These are the prints, shapes of the furniture and the countertops. A usual design of the table and chair legs is dedicated by the geometrical broken shapes. A cube is one more direction that was clearly traced on the stands of the exhibition.
3D wall panels are a world trend too. The designers give more attention to the wall decoration and the leather and suede, separated by metal or wood, become the materials for them.
Talking about the lamps, there is an accent on complicated compositions that make the architecture of the space. Single and stand-alone lamps are practically out of fashion. Carcass can be noticed in furniture items (chairs and tables), in lamps (bases and skeletons) and in decorative solutions. This trend is associated with the geometry, which dictates its lines, shapes and interpretations.
Spherical forms are the main characters in the field of lighting. There is no limit for the designer’s fantasy here. Even such a classical factory as MM Lampadari produced her modern lines. Futuristic lightning installations are going beyond the lines of a common idea about interior lighting
Pendant lamps, from which you can make compositions, as well as geometrically complex wall lights, are in the trend. The examples are the stands of Masiero, Ilfari and other factories.
The variety of the lightning decisions is great. The light can make and highlight practically everything. And today designers make a use of it actively.
To sum up all the impressions after the exhibition in Milan, we should say, that there is a luxury in everyday life in the trend. The luxury that you can touch – is a credo for the participants of Salone del Mobile 2017. This is the luxury in the details and simplicity of forms – the luxury for everyone!
